MCT Oil – Medium Chain Triglycerides :

Reduced chain length means that MCTs are more rapidly absorbed by the body and easier metabolized (burned) as fuel. Calories contained in MCTs are very efficiently converted into fuel for immediate use by organs and muscles due to the accelerated metabolic conversion instead of being stored as fat.

The energy-boosting properties of MCTs are due to the fact that they cross the double mitochondrial membrane very rapidly, and do not require the presence of carnitine, as do most other Triglycerides..

MCTs are thus a good choice for anyone who has an increased need for energy:

  1. Following major surgery
  2. During normal growth or recovery from food restrictions
  3. To enhance athletic performance
  4. To counteract the decreased energy production that results from aging

MCTs are great for athletes needing increased energy levels and enhanced endurance during high-intensity exercise.
MCTs serves as an alternative energy source for athletes on high-fat, low-carbohydrate diets. Research has shown that the muscles of mice fed the MCTs produced higher levels of key metabolic enzymes (3-oxo acid CoA-transferase, citrate synthase and malate dehydrogenase) involved in the Krebs cycle (tricarboxylic acid cycle), the body’s primary energy production mechanism.
MCT-fed mice also burned fat at a higher rate to enhance cellular energy production.

MCTs have anti-coagulation effects, and been shown to lower serum cholesterol in rats and calves.
MCTs also reduce levels of cholesterol in the liver and other tissues.
MCT acts as an antioxidant and reduces tissue requirements for Vitamin E.

MCTs are useful for diabetics or pre-diabetics due to the slight hypoglycemic (blood glucose-lowering) effect. It may be the combination of the glucose and lipid-lowering effects of MCTs that resulted in Kaunitz’ report that “the life span [of experimental animals] is longer when the diet is richer in MCTs than LCTs.”

MCTs contains a lower caloric content than LCTs (Long Chain Triglicerides), and are not stored in fat deposits in the body as much as LCTs.
MCTs also enhance thermogenesis (i.e., fat burning).

The triple approach to weight loss when using Pure Primal Skin MCT Oil:
(1) less calories than other fats,
(2) are minimally stored as fat, and
(3) contribute to enhanced metabolism to burn even more calories.
This may be due to the fact that MCTs promote the development of ketones, which the brain can utilize for energy (glucose, being the other).

A decline in energy comes along with calorie restrictions. Using MCTs in weight loss programs will boost energy levels and increase fatty acid metabolism (burn fat) and certainly help long term diet success.

Ingestion of 40ml MCTs boosts almost immediately cognitive performance in those suffering from impairments as serious as Alzheimer’s disease!
The primary fuel source for the energy-hungry brain is glucose, when insulin resistance and suboptimal metabolism (hypometabolism) develops in the brain, both the brain’s structure and function are compromised. Ketone bodies provide a much needed alternative fuel source to glucose that can recharge metabolic processes within the brain, resulting in an almost immediate improvement in cognitive function.  And what does MCTs promote? KETONES!

MCTs also have a positive effect “on autoimmune reactions characteristic of the aging process.”

MCTs assist in treating obstructive jaundice, biliary cirrhosis, pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis, celiac disease, Whipple’s disease, Crohn’s disease, regional enteritis, and malabsorption in neonates.

MCT has been reported to be useful for feeding newborn infants, to both assist their initial growth and to contribute to their physiological development.
The absorption of calcium and magnesium appears to be enhanced when the diet contains MCTs, particularly in infants, and the absorption of amino acids also appears to be improved.
Thus, MCTs can be a useful addition to the diet of those suffering from any form of malnutrition or tissue wasting.

MCTs are often added to parenteral formulas for intravenous feeding following surgery or during recovery from severe injuries, burns and infections.

  1. Michelle Moller (verified owner)

A great product to add healthy fat to your diet. I have been using MCT oil for 2 months now and it really has assisted in curbing cravings and helped me balance my appetite.
This is also a great addition for those who fast a lot – I have mine in my coffee with my collagen and if my energy is really low I have a second shot in the late afternoon.

  2. Johanna (verified owner)

Love this product. Have it in our coffee, together with the Collagen, every morning and last thing at night.

Magical MCT oil – Medium Chain Triglycerides :

Energy boost/athletic performance:

Reduced chain length means that MCTs are more rapidly absorbed by the body and easier metabolized (burned) as fuel.
